About the event
Flagstaff Piano Festival and the Horizons Summer Series present the “adventurous and passionate” (The New Yorker) Ukrainian-born pianist Inna Faliks, one of the most communicative and poetic artists of her generation. Faliks is widely appreciated for her commanding performances of standard piano repertoire, as well genre-bending, interdisciplinary projects, and her inquisitive work with contemporary composers. She serves as Professor and Head of Piano Studies at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, as well as the founder and curator of the Music/Words Series.
Inna Faliks performs a recital titled “Re-imagine: Beethoven & Ravel,” which includes Beethoven’s Six Bagatelles Op. 126 and Ravel’s iconic three pieces that form “Gaspard de la nuit,” alongside contemporary responses to these nine pieces that she commissioned from composers Peter Gloub, Tamir Hendelman, Richard Danielpour, Ian Krouse, Mark Carlson, David Lefkowitz, Paola Prestini, Timo Andres, and Billy Childs.
During her residency at Flagstaff Piano Festival, Inna Faliks will also teach a public piano masterclass on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at 10:00AM-12:00PM in Kitt Recital Hall. Admission to the masterclass is free.
