About the event
Flagstaff Piano Festival presents pianist Steven Spooner, hailed for his distinctive and compelling performances as “a pianist in the tradition that many believe died with the likes of Horowitz, Arrau, Bolet, Cziffra, and Wild” (Fanfare Magazine). During the past seasons Spooner has daringly reinvented the solo recital by allowing audiences to vote on the spot for one of several programs and, like golden-age pianists, his concerts often feature his own compositions and virtuoso transcriptions. He serves as Professor of Piano at the Peabody Institute and Artistic Director of the Chicago International Competition and Festival.
Steven Spooner performs an all-Liszt recital that takes the audience on an unforgettable journey through the great Romantic composer’s “Years of Pilgrimage.”
During his residency at Flagstaff Piano Festival, Steven Spooner will also teach a public piano masterclass on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 10:00AM-12:00PM in Kitt Recital Hall. Admission to the masterclass is free.
